What is wrong with drug use?

DMT or Dimethyltryptamine is an incredibly powerful and swift hallucinogen.  DMT is also found in nearly every living organism on the planet as well as the enzymes to break DMT down.  DMT's chemical structure is also incredibly similar to that of the active ingredient in hallucinogenic mushrooms, Psilocybin, as well as Tryptophan, a readily abundant amino acid.  Recently I watched a documentary concerning DMT as more than a recreational drug.  The documentary was centered around a study done in 1990 concerning DMT and heart rate and assorted other bodily functions.  The study, however,  kept notes on the experiences that the patients could describe.  Most describe the experience as a roller coaster ride with one moment feeling the DMT enter their veins and then exploding out of their body in a rush of almost cosmic energy.  Overall the experience has religious overtones for many and is dehumanizing as well.  However, I'm not writing this blog on the religious experiences that have been experienced by generations in the Amazon I'm writing this about a small quip about the government deciding what we can and cannot ingest.  The main point was that the American society has become so consumption driven that if we, the public, are ever not in a state of purchasing goods then we are ruining America.  The exception to the rule?  Alcohol.
The documentary on DMT. For more information on DMT.
